in no way meaning to minimize the significance of today’s date in history, here’s a photo of my 996 on its first extended road trip, shortly after i bought it.
photo was on a mostly-military-use road near camp shelby, mississippi.

Why would you ever get a 996? Don’t you know that’s literally the worst 911 ever? Why not just buy a 60s beetle? I’d never waste my money on that! *gets into golf and drives off*
But seriously nice ride. The only points I can jealously deduce from you are the front plate holes...

I was here on 9/11 and this does not bother me. And if it does bother anyone, they should stay away from the internet.

i bought it back when 3.2 carreras were still in the sub 15k range. and that’s what i really wanted, with a real targa roof. but seeing as i intended to actually daily drive the thing, i couldn’t bring myself to pick up a car without a well functioning air conditioning system, that didn’t require ongoing tinkering and adjustments. *kicking myself now*
anyway, i did daily it for a while, and it is my current winter car, and its been reliable as a top, up and down the eastern seaboard. got me as far as new orleans, chicago, and even as far as newfoundland.
also, its only us nerds that that would ever put “worst” and “911” in the same sentence. :)

I think the 996 is the Porsche I’m going to go for in a couple of years. Since it is, as Patrick Nichols said, the “worst” 911, maybe it’ll be more affordable for me!
